à plus tard
It’s been great sharing here for all these years. To the few of you who have taken time to share parts of your own lives with me by email, and sometimes even in real life, I appreciate it and wish I’d had more time to keep in touch. As for this site, I no longer have the time — or the desire, to be honest — to post here as I would like.
The occasional photo may be posted, but probably not often by today’s standards; I’m thinking once or twice a month.
En vous souhaitant une très bonne année !

Fret not. I’ve got your feed saved. :-)
I always thought your posts were fun even though I never comment. Its kind of like livejournal in that respect. I browse the activity of my friends.

Hi, I’ve read many of your posts from time to time over the years. You write very well. Mostly, I’ve read and not written (I like to keep my trap shut). I’ve been in France for the past 11 years, up here in Paris, where I started my own S.A.R.L. (doing computer work for radio and tv stations around the world) and have extended myself out to lots of other activities. I could be crazy, but it seems like I’m detecting a note of fatigue in your post. Life, of course, can be hard anywhere, but for an expat it can often be more dramatically (or starkly) difficult. Well, if that’s the case, and if it’s any consolation, you are not alone.

Will keep up with the updates, no matter what the frequency!
Hope the hecticness is of the good kind!

Tho I’ve never commented before, I’d like to tell you that I’ve enjoyed your blog and photos. My college major was French, but I did nothing so adventurous as you after graduation. Thank you for sharing, and I hope you’ll continue to post now and then. Best to you.

Well I am sorry to hear that you won’t be keeping it up any more. I suppose it is a lot of work to do so, but then I always assumed it would be somehoe cathartic. Best of luck to you anyways, you will be missed. (I feel like I should add “Rest in Peace” here…despite no one actually dieing) What the hell - Rest in Peace.

Thanks everybody :) I’ll miss writing here… but can definitely use the time it frees up. (I am serious about the photos though!)

Bad timing on my part! Just came across your blog today and as a French-speaking wannabe, it caught my attention (I clicked on your comment on Librarything.com). All the best to you…and I will enjoy reading of some of your earlier translating-and-living-in-Nice-experiences.

Aargh! I’ve been so busy over the last few weeks, I’ve missed out on reading your blog … and now it sounds like you’re retiring from the blogging life altogether! Rats!
Well, I totally understand the need to get away from that. I’m finding that because my job as a technical writer has become more demanding over the last year, it’s left me increasingly disinclined to use those same skills as a volunteer. (I.e. the impulse to write and edit in one’s spare time can be significantly dampened when it’s also what you do from 9 to 5!)
I just hope and pray that you’ll still post occasionally, even if it’s very sporadic. Your blog has been a joy to read and, to the extent it’s possible to know someone only from their postings online, it has been absolutely wonderful to know you.
And if not… at least I’m looking forward to the photos. You’ve made me fall in love with Malo!

Glad to see you, Julia! I’ve enjoyed your photos too, they’re really beautiful. (Want. Kimono. And those kawaii flower baskets/holders. And chado classes! :) There are still only classes in Paris and Lyon here…)
I was going to start with the photos this weekend but came down with a nasty flu on Friday… hopefully next weekend.

(Time has proven me a liar about that last part. Looking more closely at my cyclamens gave me an idea!)
