Links
When I first discovered the web in 1994, I loved its premise: links! Being able to jump from one subject to the next! A giant library of interconnected ideas from around the world! Today was especially fun for me, so following is some of my path.
Starting from DIY Ceiling Cat (beware bad souls, else ye go to teh basement), I browsed the neat TubbyPaws creations and discovered…
…which reminded me that I’ve been wanting to see if any Pizzicato Five videos are on YouTube. (There’s a wonderful site with P5 lyrics and translations.) My favorite version of “Darlin’ of Discothèque” has a video! As do the pop-jazzy “Twiggy Twiggy”, “It’s a Beautiful Day” (I love singing along to this one), and “Contact” (lyrics)…
…which led to Serge Gainsbourg, original composer of “Contact”, and its quirky video I’d never seen before: Brigitte Bardot, “Contact”.
All those fun styles merely served to stoke my interior design idea-gathering craze. I’m on vacation this week and have been scouring the web for inspiration: materialicious, Apartment Therapy, the Decopix Art Deco resource… and my bank gave out a coupon for 15% off at Habitat!
Finally, an editorial postscript: if only more music videos took themselves as seriously as this. Supreme! Dyno-mite! (What? It needs dancing chefs and sailors, you say?)
