The room is indeed dark, because it’s in the basement half of my place (the other half is ground level, my building being on a slope). In winter there’s not enough light in the bedroom from the small window above to help fill it out with the flash in photographs — it looks better in reality, as it is well-lit.

I know it may sound silly on paper, but continuing that drape around the wall, and possibly putting a piece of wall art that can be “exposed” by them may bring balance to that room. I think it’s much too dark right now. What kind of lighting is in the rest of the room?

I don’t know what is the deal with cats and gently swinging drapes – but it seems to drive them into a perfect frenzy!

And the grey bedroom idea sounds like it’ll work … Hmm … let me try to visualize it … Yeeees … it ought to work better than the current color scheme and maybe bring out the wooden floors(?) better ?

I love the look of that grey room with the turquoise accents, the two colors are very soothing together. I hope you can make your design dreams come true soon!
