So when I was speaking with a gentleman that is French, I said good night to him and he replied with 'et vous aussi'.....I was baffled because he's French and I thought he should know better. Makes sense now though. Now if only I can get him to start using 'tu'!!! :o) Thank you so much for this wonderful explanation! I still find myself mistakenly addressing children as "vous" when I forget (and they give me interesting stares), but now, I think I'll manage to remember. I spent most of last year here in the San Francisco Bay Area studying French with a remarkable tutor. I'll be sending her this post!
